the thing you're still waiting to feel ready for

Most of us have a decision sitting somewhere in the back of our mind — one we keep returning to, turning over, researching a little more. The career change, the move, the launch. To start the thing. leave the thing. Say yes. Say no.

Something I see consistently, in my coaching work and in my own life, is this:

We don't usually stall because we don't know what to do.

We stall because we're waiting to feel certain before we do it.

Most people know what they want. They've done the work. They can articulate the goal, the vision, the next step. And then — they wait. For the clearer sign. A little more information. The perfect time. But at some point, the waiting becomes a hiding place.

What we're actually waiting for is certainty — a guarantee that nothing will go wrong once we commit. That guarantee never arrives, so the goal drifts. Not abandoned, just permanently "someday.

Here's what I know:

"Waiting for the stars to align" isn't a plan. It's a feeling. And a feeling will let you wait forever.

  • Clarity is not something you wait for. It's something you generate. You can prepare where preparation is useful. and then, at some point, you have to put it down.

  • Moving forward doesn't require having the answers. It requires accepting that you probably won't — and deciding to go anyway.

  • Uncertainty usually just means you care about how it turns out.

  • An imperfect plan in motion will always outperform a perfect plan that never leaves the page.

  • Not deciding is itself a decision — usually the one with the highest hidden cost (opportunity cost, stagnation, regret).

So — what's the "someday" you've been circling? Moving the goalposts on, waiting for conditions that will never fully align?

If something came up — consider this your sign.

Not to have it all figured out. Not the perfect plan, or the guarantee that nothing will go wrong.

Just a starting point to build from and the willingness to adjust as you go.
